Summer Sky Cover Reveal

Book title: Summer Sky by Lisa Swallow
Series: Blue Phoenix #1
Genre: Contemporary romance
Release date: April 2014
Cover designed by Najla Qamber Designs

Models: Madison Wayne & Chad Feyrer

Sky changed her life for a man once, and she has no intention of doing it again - even if he is a six foot, tattooed rock god who makes a mean bacon sandwich.

Sky Davis is fed up of boyfriend Grant taking her for granted and when she comes home to find him wearing a girl, Sky suspects the relationship is over. She takes an unscheduled holiday and leaves the life (and guy) she hates behind.

Rock star Dylan Morgan is struggling with fame and infamy, sick of his life being controlled by other people. Dylan cuts his hair and walks away from his role as lead singer of Blue Phoenix, leaving chaos and speculation behind.

Outside the English seaside town of Broadbeach their cars and worlds collide.

Sky decides Dylan is an arrogant guy with too many tattoos, and Dylan is amused by the smart-mouthed girl with no idea who he is. Dylan and Sky soon discover they’ve travelled to Broadbeach for the same reason - to escape from reality back to a place with happy childhood memories.

Losing themselves in a world where they know nothing about each other, Sky and Dylan begin a summer romance that soon heats up their rainy English summer.

Fantasies can’t last forever and when reality crashes the party, Sky isn’t sure she wants to be more than his ‘summer Sky’ but Dylan doesn’t want to let her go.

Returning to the real world and public scrutiny isn’t their only problem. Blue Phoenix bass player, Jem Jones, has a reason for wanting Sky out of Dylan’s life, and is determined to come between them. Some things won’t stay hidden, even when they’re paid to ‘go away’.

Summer Sky is a quirky romance where occasionally more than the bacon sizzles. This is the first in the new ‘Blue Phoenix’ series of contemporary rock star romances.

Please note: this is a romance with a rock star hero, and not an erotic rock star book!

"Sky! Waves!"

I have my back to the ocean and a wave crashes against my legs, destabilising me. I regain my footing and attempt to move before the retreating water sucks my feet into the sand. At that moment a larger wave wipes me completely, dragging my body underwater. I panic at the confusion of being pushed and pulled out of my control, seawater swirling hair into my face and the bubbles rushing into my ears. The shell remains tightly gripped in my hand.

As water draws away, I push my head free. Dylan stands on the edge of the shore, water lapping his ankles, laughing. I spit out sea water and stagger to my feet. The weight of the damp hoodie threatens to pull me down again as I push hair from my eyes.

"That was fucking funny! You should see your face!" He wades towards me, arm outstretched to help.

Attempting to keep my footing, I lunge at him and slap his hard chest with both palms. "It was not! Screw you!” Dylan catches my arms as I make contact, and pulls me towards him.

Scrutinizing my face briefly, Dylan takes my cheeks in his broad palms and crushes his lips against mine. I gasp again, but it's not the sea snatching my breath this time. A new wave sways us, and Dylan holds my face tightly, his own footing steady as his mouth claims mine. A small voice in my head asks what the hell I’m doing but I ignore it - Dylan overwhelms all common sense the moment I have any physical contact with him. Losing myself in his mint-flavoured kiss, in the slide of his cool tongue, I yield to the power he holds over me. Dylan curls his fingers into my wet hair and pulls me closer; I respond with a deep kiss, tracing fingers across his stubbled cheek.

Fierce or gentle, his kisses mould my soul to his as perfectly as his body shapes with mine, as if we’re in a place created by our coming together. Kissing Dylan last night pulled me into his orbit, and when I see stars again, I swear his kisses will always take me to the edge of his galaxy. If Dylan can remove me from reality with just this, god knows what anything else he's skilful at would do to me. The thought of us skin on skin, united through more than a kiss, lights a fire deep inside that would take more than the cold Cornish sea to extinguish.

Dylan loosens his grip on my hair and slides his hands across my damp back. He closes the final gap between us as our bodies meet, and I wish the rain-soaked clothes weren’t in the way. “I have never met anyone so…” He grasps for a word then gives up and rests his forehead on mine. “I feel as if I’ve waited my whole life to meet you and then suddenly you’re here.”

For a moment I consider whether he’s teasing me again, but I guess I’m very different to the people in his real life. "I can honestly say I've never met anyone like you, Dylan Morgan."

He wipes water from my cheek with cool, damp fingers. "No-one’s met Dylan Morgan apart from you. Not for a lot of years, anyway.”

I stare at the truth reflected in his pale blue eyes, unable to believe any of this is reality. His grip on my back loosens, and I step back. Rain drips down his face, soaking through his T-shirt and clinging to his body in a way that does nothing to help my mounting desire to get my hands on him.

A subject change is needed rapidly, before I begin drooling.

**18+ for sexual situations, cursing and adult content**
A portion of all royalties from Crashing Back Down are donated by the author to The Marcie Mazzola Foundation.

This one broke my heart, pieced it back together little by little, only to shatter it again! Mags is an Army widow, who lost her husband in a freak accident when he was deployed to war. This is her story of living with the pain, moving on and surviving with the guilt. Reliving her memories of her husband Randy are bittersweet. His kindness and love for Mags shine through in everything he did. They were the 'IT' couple, they knew they were meant to be together and live HEA. But sometimes, HEA just isn't reality and we must live the hand we're dealt.

"My college years were a blur of studying and partying. The only thing I can say held any significance was meeting Randy, the fraternity guy with a great smile. Meeting him lifted me off the ground in an instant. And just as quickly, I crashed back down to earth the day I found out he hadn't held up his end of the bargain. I never realized 'until death' would come before kids and old age for us. Missing my husband was never going to go away; I just wished the guilt of still living would."

Walker was Randy's right hand man. They were inseparable in college and enlisted into the Army together. Walker was with Randy the day of the accident and from that day forward, made it his life's mission to take care of Mags and Randy's parents instead of returning home. He always knew how to be there for Mags and slowly brought her out of her spiraling depression. But her feelings for him became more than that of friendship and a mutual loss of someone important to them. He was breathing life back into her, giving her a reason to get up every morning again.

'Walker bent down a little so he could look me directly in the eye, putting both his hands on my shoulders. "Mags, he's dead. Say the word and I will walk out that door and never talk to you again. I've loved you for awhile. And I want to be with you. If it has to be only as friends, I'll handle it, but that's not what I want." Walker sighed, light tears starting to roll down his cheeks as he slid onto the recliner with his head in his hands, his voice shaky and pleading.'

But there are some major secrets hidden in Walker's closet and it will shatter the very fragile foundation Mags had just begun rebuilding for herself. Everything she knows and feels about Walker will be tested to the ultimate limit.....and then.....BAM! You have to wait for Falling Back Together (Book2)! The last sentence in this book about killed me! Anxiously awaiting the next!

Author Bio:
I was born and raised in Southern California, where I worked in a medley of colorful jobs. Today I am a wife, full time mom, shuttle service and student, in that order. I love pop culture and music, especially from the 70's and 80's. I was too busy partying through the 90's to remember much, other than there were too many boy bands (I am grateful for JT though). I believe that things happen to everyone for reason; I hope that this path I'm on is both a learning experience and a journey for tomorrow. The One Who Loves You is my first published novel.

Paradise Taken & Saving Us Blitz

Paradise Taken

Based on true events.
Four lives, intertwined by friendship and business, whose true story was more devastating than fiction.
Rob and Kaye were thrilled to be moving to the island of St. John with dear friends Jake and Claire. The men were going into business together and relocating with their families to the beautiful tropical paradise. It was a dream come true for the longtime friends.
But, when feelings are revealed and temptation takes control, one friendship turns from lust to love and no one can walk away unscathed.
And, one person's ultimate decision leaves everyone lost and devastated.

Excerpt

Jake took the lounger next to me, and we sat in silence for a while as we gazed up at the clear night sky.  Jake finally broke the quiet night air. “Are you happy living here, Kaye?”
“Yes, very…why do you ask?”
“I was just asking.  You seem to glow all the time like you’re very content.” He smiled slightly. “I only ask because I like to see you happy.  You have the best smile, and it’s contagious.  It brings me tremendous joy.”
I flushed at his comment. It stirred something in me—embarrassment, confusion, happiness…I didn’t know.  Jake reached over and put his hand on my arm, and a chill ran through me.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.  We’ve known each other a long time, and I’ve always wanted to tell you that.”
I felt his sincere kindness, and it made me blush again. I leaned my head back and closed my eyes. “Jake, you are so sweet to say such nice things to me.  All these years you’ve treated me with love and respect, and I adore you.”

Jake leaned over and kissed my cheek, and I jumped at his touch.  His eyes widened in shock, almost like he couldn’t believe he’d done it either.  We both stared at each other for a few long seconds, then started laughing.

Saving Us (Sequel to Paradise Taken)

Our love affair wasn't what everyone wanted it to be. It was raw and full of absolute joy
and unbelievable pain. !
My love for another woman had consumed me for years and now that Kaye was mine, I
wasn’t ever letting her go. I knew the consequences of our affair would be devastating to
our families, but I was too selfish to walk away.
My beautiful Kaye was having my baby and we were determined to get our happily ever
after....until one day, one event, one conversation threatened it all. !
"I had to know what went wrong. My stomach was sick with grief and I didn't know what to
do next or even how to help Kaye.
I needed to get to her.
It didn't matter what Rob or Claire thought. No one could stop me from going. I knew
she needed me. I could feel it deep in my soul." Jake

Excerpt

The pain in Kaye’s eyes was almost too much for me to bear. I knew she loved me and wanted
to be with me, but having Rob and the kids standing there when we drove up was painful for her.
I wanted to force her back into my car and drive away. I knew that would never happen. She
loved her kids too much, and she still cared a great deal about Rob. !
I was certain their kids knew nothing about the baby being mine. It appeared that the affair
wasn’t a big surprise, but apparently, the paternity was a secret. That didn’t matter to me—not at
that moment. !
Reluctantly, I got in my rental and drove away from the love of my life and my baby. I needed to
give Kaye some time with Rob and her kids. I hated it, but I didn’t really see a choice. !
As I drove back to our hotel, I thought about how things could have been all these years had I
just told Kaye about my feelings while we were in college. I didn’t regret my life with Claire,
and I certainly didn’t regret my children, but they’d never fully had my heart. It belonged to
someone else and the life I’d missed out on.

REVIEW

OH HOLY FRIGGIN' SMOKES! This was one hot little day in the Life of Spencer Shrike. Ford will forever hold my heart but I think Spencer might have won him out on this one...sorry Ford :(

I am bursting at the seams...I want to read Guns so bad right now! I have a feeling it is going to be JA's best yet. I love all of the Rook & Ronin Books, each getting better than the last. They grab you by the *bleep* and don't let go! Ronnie and Spencer are at a crossroad, her wanting to be wanted and him wanting but not giving. He doesn't want her getting involved in his life when everything is so chaotic with the trial and scandal following him. But he can't stand to see her hurt and he can't stay away either. This little twist is sure to make Guns an EXPLOSIVE read!

EXCERPT

“Why are you following me?” she stops and asks in a huff, her foot stomping on the polished concrete floors.
“I’m going to class. I’m not following you.”
She looks over at me and scowls. “You have class here in this building at seven AM? Not likely. There’s only one class in here and it’s by invitation only,” she says with an air of superiority as she begins walking again.
I walk again too, then smile at her when she checks to see if I’m still following. “I’ve been invited, don’t worry.”
This makes her stop and whirl around to face me. “You’re in my class?”
“I am,” I say smugly. “I’m a transfer from DU. I major in business, but I take art on the side.”
“Oh.” She flips her long golden tresses over her shoulder. “A hobbyist.”
“Yeah.” I smirk and shrug at the same time. “You could call me that.”
She turns again and resumes the power walk. I catch up, pass her, and then hold the studio door open and wave her through.
“Thank you,” she says under her breath as she passes close enough for me to breathe in her scent. She smells like sugar. Seriously, like a fucking cookie or something. I watch her head across the room to gather her things. The studio is filled with students. At least forty of them. Everyone is setting up, getting ready for life drawing.
“Mr. Shrike,” the middle-aged voice calls out to me from across the room.
I look over at Bombshell and she’s watching me very carefully. I wink and shoot her with my finger, then turn and walk towards the professor with a smile. “Miss Aberdeen, thank you for fitting me in the class. I can see what you mean now, it’s packed full.
She blushes at me. Yeah, I have that effect on women of all ages, so I shoot her a winning smile and tilt my head a bit. Ronin taught me that move. I might not be on speaking terms with him these days, but that guy knows all the fucking charm tricks. He has the women lined up like groupies.
I’m not a groupie gatherer, but this head-tilt thing works well enough on the professor in front of me. Her look says, I’m an artist. She’s got the earthy clothes that hang off her skinny frame, the glasses, the put-up hair that’s falling out all over the place, and the Birks on her feet.
She’s so earthy, I was sorta shocked when she named her condition for letting me join this class.
“Mr. Shrike—”
“Please, Miss Aberdeen, call me Spence.” I smile again and chance a look over at Bombshell. She’s set up in the front row. I already knew this. I’ve been doing recon on the Bomb since I first saw her in that fight with her brother in front of the bookstore.
“Very well, Spence.” Aberdeen blushes when she says my name and that’s sorta cute. “Next week your space is next to Miss Vaughn—
She continues talking about what will happen next week. But I’m more concerned with what’s happening this week to give a shit about a time so far in the future, so I tune the rest out. I’m too busy looking over at the Blonde Bomb as she tries to process what’s being said.
I chuckle as Aberdeen walks away and Veronica Vaughn walks up. “You planned this. You’re stalking me, aren’t you?”
“Recon, baby. Not stalking.” And then I grab the hem of my shirt and pull it straight up over my head. Not too fast, Ronin taught me this too. He said the slow-mo shirt removal was one of the easiest ways to snag a girl. When I look back at Veronica her mouth is gaping open.
“What are you doing?” she hisses at me. “Put your shirt on!”
I drop the shirt to the floor and go for the pants. Veronica gasps when I pop the button and downright chokes when I go for the zipper. I hear a few cat calls from the back of the room as I slip my pants down.
I’m commando today, so His Highness just pops right out.
Every girl in the room explodes in laughter. It’s the good kind though. I know the difference. This laughter says,Holy fucking shit, I cannot believe he just took off his clothes!
“You look more like a cherry than a bombshell right now, Blondie,” I joke with her.
She shakes herself out of her silent stare and turns on her heel.
“Well,” Miss Aberdeen says as she claps her hands together in delight. “Mr. Shrike—err, Spence.” She smiles big as she says my name. “It’s too late now, obviously, but next time—”
“Next time?” Blondie says as she peeks out from behind her easel.
“—please use the dressing room over there in the corner. And put on a robe until we’re ready for you.” She bats her eyelashes at me, then steals a glance down.
“Sure thing,” I say as I wink and shoot. “Where do you want me, Miss Aberdeen?”
Veronica blushes the entire fucking class. Her face is this sexy shade of flush for ninety minutes. And every one of those ninety minutes, she thinks about nothing but me. She traces every line and curve of my body onto the paper in front of her. She licks her lips seventeen times. She sighs twenty-two times. She groans and whimpers when she makes five mistakes, and she even has a pouty frown on her face for the splittest of seconds when Aberdeen announces that class is over.
