Captivating and riveting.  4 Solid Stars!

I was drawn straight into the mystery of Grayson.  The frustration, fear and strong passion within is bound to snare you.  Having to know what is going on in his mind and heart keeps the pages flying.  Angie is a strong leading female.  I enjoyed her character and tenacity.  If anyone can unravel the dark ties around Grayson, forming his own personal prison...it's her.  But will Grayson let his stony exterior crack enough to let her slip within?  Their heat is certainly undeniable...holy hell did I ever feel it.  Lisa can write some pretty descriptive and steamy scenes.  I almost had to take a few breaks *wink-wink* but I couldn't tear myself away from reading.  I liked most of the secondary characters...loathed a few for obvious reasons but there is no doubt...Grayson is stuck in my mind and soul.  I definitely recommend this one!  Lisa is gaining ground in my list of Authors to keep an eye on!

Early Sunday morning, I crawled out of bed in search of Grayson. I discovered him upstairs in the room with the books. They were piled all around him as he scratched at something on the floor with an old shovel. The room was saturated with an early morning chill, so thick I could feel it seeping through my skin. I hugged my torso, scrubbing my palms up and down my arms. I approached him hesitantly and asked what he was doing. My heart was in my throat because I never knew what to expect with Grayson. He stopped and leaned against the handle, his cloudy gaze finding my face. He was fully dressed. He must have gotten dressed again after we’d made love earlier. 

“Digging,” he acknowledged casually. “Digging a trap.”

I swallowed hard, emotion stacking like bricks in my chest. I shook my head, my mind grasping for purchase, trying to understand. “A trap for what, Grayson?”

“Danger. I have to be prepared. I have to protect us.”

I reached out a hand, trying to keep it steady. “You’re safe, Grayson.”

His gaze shifted to my proffered hand, but he didn’t move. He didn’t believe me. Fear and skepticism drew a roadmap of worry on his face. His jaw squared and he tightened his lips into a brittle line. I watched his body uncurl as he grabbed the shovel and silently started scraping at the floor again. That’s when I saw it. There was a large, jagged crater in the dusty wood that must have been covered up by the scattered books. It was directly over the small cracks I’d seen in the ceiling downstairs, the network of spider veins I’d noticed soon after starting here. I wondered how long he’d been working at this trap. I could already see exposed beams and fluffy insulation. If he kept this up, eventually he’d put a hole right through the wood floor.

“Go back to bed, Angie.”

“I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying with you, Grayson,” I said sternly, plopping myself down on the floor next to him. 

He stopped again and stared at me, his blue eyes almost cobalt in the gray dawn. His hair was a loose mane framing his face, giving him an unruly look. “You’ll be tired. You haven’t gotten much sleep.”

I squeezed my eyes shut, hurting, thinking of the reason I’d been up most of the night. We’d held each other, made exquisite love, bathed in a temporary utopia where I could pretend he was okay. 

But Grayson wasn’t okay, and as I spent more time with him, I realized the extent of his fractured thoughts. My Grayson was funny and brilliant. My Grayson was tender and passionate. My Grayson could melt my heart with the tiniest smile. But this man, too, was my Grayson, a man who was sometimes out of touch with reality, who lived in the distorted world concocted by his brain. REVIEW

Well...JA did it again...and she did it phenomenally!  She topped Status with Profile.  I didn't think it was possible but I should really know better by now.  This series delivers surprise after surprise.  It pulled a wide range of emotions from me but the one that completely blew me was the heartache...I can't believe I friggin' cried.  Totally not expecting that one...I may have even called JA a dirty bird for doing it to me.  Sly, sneaky...she has been one step ahead of the readers in the whole plot line.  Bloody brilliant work!










So, in Profile we are at the point of Grace's abduction.  Once they realize she is missing, it is a race to putting pieces of the puzzle together in order to find her.  The true extent of Vaughn's love shines through.  If you didn't fall hard for him before...hold on to your knickers ladies.  There isn't anything he wouldn't do to get her back, any resource would not go unused.  His fame, money or possessions mean nothing without Grace by his side to share them.










As the fog clears Grace's consciousness and she realizes her worst nightmare has finally come to claim her again, she knows she has to fight in order to make it out alive.  It's him or her.  To dance with the devil, you have to play his game.  But it is a fine rope between survival and falling into the darkness waiting for her.










Phew...be ready for this one...it is a mind bender f**ker-uper!  That's the only way to explain it.  Completely addictive.  I didn't put this one down until I was through.  5++++ STARS

Ruin by CD Reiss - REVIEW

Ruin...I am more in love with Capo than before. That man can ruin me any time he wants. Holy f**k balls! Raw, dirty and surprisingly touching in a murderous way. I was so on edge with this one. The plot will grip you in its claws up to the very end. Who will live, who will die...it was torture!  

Theresa and Antonio are in the fight of their lives...Antonio wants to make a break from the business but it doesn't come without risk. He doesn't know of any other way to protect Theresa...who doesn't want his protection and doesn't realize the gravity of their situation until the bullets are zinging past her. She has been the prim and proper lady for so long, this new sensual side of her that craves the animal in the Capo makes her resent him. But she can't deny her feelings for him are real or genuine any more than his. They are caught in each other's trap.

“I’m already going to hell. Grazie.” I pushed him away, and he grabbed my jaw, holding me still while he put his nose next to mine and spoke into my mouth. “You’re a loaded gun. Do you see that? You’re from a different world, but you smell like home to me. I haven’t been to Napoli in ten years, but whenever you’re near me, I smell olive flowers. My heart gets sick with thirst, but the water is poison.”

CD throws a few curves into the story, forcing Antonio and Theresa to make a desperate last ditch choice to live the rest of their days together...but more walls are put in their path...death doesn't come easy.

Ruin was a fast paced, hot read. A definite hit on my list!

The Salvation of Daniel




After Mae, I was devastated, my heart a torn bloody mess.  That book didn't leave one part of my soul untouched.  I'll admit, I was terrified to read The Salvation of Daniel but I just couldn't stop myself.  I had to know where the story was going to lead...I knew with DH, it would be down some dark, twisted path but I was going to take that journey no matter the cost.  







Daniel's Salvation is about the cost of choices and how high a price we are willing to pay.  There are some curves thrown in here, so be ready to catch.  I don't want to give anything away.  This is another where the unknown is part of the draw and you don't want to read the spoilers.  What I can tell you is you will see a completely different Daniel...his demons will make brief appearances but he is working towards his salvation for his dark past.  But he isn't working alone.  There is another power-player with high stakes in the game.  

Connie's roll in this book totally threw me, actually the whole plot did.  I had no idea how deep the business actually went.  Who is against who, who is good, who is bad....you don't really know because so many lines are crossed and the shades are truly grey.  I will tell you it's a nail-biter.  I thought I would be ok...my guts would remain intact unlike The Decimation of Mae...but don't let your guard down.
