REVIEW:

I don't even know how to review this book. I'm feeling so many different emotions coming down from this one. All the lives we've come to love in JA's mind all kind of meld together into one world. Every plot twist, every character, every book has been leading up to this epic conclusion. Wasted Lust didn't deviate from her usual style of heady twists and plenty of heat. Sasha has been along for the ride since Ford's first book. We all fell in love with her spunk and personality but that was just a small glimpse of the girl. We really get to see more of what she is made of in the DDD series. She is loved and cherished by all my favorite characters...people willing to kill for her, sacrifice everything to make it right and safe again. Phew and Jax...I know Michelle has staked her claim but damn. I really liked him as a new player in the game. Nick...he broke my heart. So many shocking revelations and ultimately closure even though it's a painful one. You don't need to read all of the books to enjoy Sasha's story but I highly encourage you to. JA has written a highly intricate and interwoven tale that will leave you breathless and awestruck. It's hard to let these characters go after such a long journey.

EXCERPT:

SASHA

“I still feel dizzy.”
“Come here,” he says, pulling me into his lap and repositioning me so my head is cradled in the crook of his arm. “Put your feet up on the seat and just rest. It’s a good hour drive to where we’re going.”
I could resist. He’s not entirely trustworthy. And he’s a stalker. That’s pretty creepy. I wonder how deep that obsession goes. I wonder if it’s safe to even be in this car with him.
But his embrace feels too good to make him stop.
My dress was not made for being cradled in a man’s arms. Or maybe it was? Because the slits up each side bare my thighs, and the heat of his hand on my skin stirs up the longing I’ve been pushing away for years, making me shut my eyes.
His fingers stroke me gently, back and forth across the top of my thigh. It feels so damn good, I lose myself in the pleasure. I lean into him and his hand drops down between my thighs, making me gasp.
“Sorry,” he says, removing the offending hand.
I reach out and place his hand back where it was. “Don’t stop touching me. Please. It feels good. I don’t get a lot of intimate interaction anymore.”
My eyes are still closed when I say this to him, but the ensuing silence and the tenseness of his hand on my skin—his hesitant touch—forces me to open them. It forces me to seek him out.
And I guess he wins, doesn’t he? He’s got me right where he needs me. Wanting more as I gaze up into his eyes.
“Pull your dress up, Sasha.”
I wasn’t expecting that command. But it absolutely is a command. He’ll give me what I’m asking for, but he won’t give it away for free.
“Do it,” he says. “You’ve been pushing me away all day. You’ve complained about my kisses and threatened to break my fingers. And now you’re here in my lap. Vulnerable and needy. So if this is what you really want, you need to participate. I won’t force you to succumb. I won’t take advantage of your longing for Nick, or your very bad day, or the panic that seems overwhelming. If you want me, show me.”
So I do. I do it without thinking or rationalizing. I just want it. My hand reaches for the silky fabric of my dress all bunched between my legs, and I pull it up. Inch by inch, until the coolness of the air sweeps across my lace panties.
He licks his lips as he watches.
The heat I feel is immediate.
“What should I do now?” I ask.
His hand slides up my inner thigh and the wetness gathers in a pool between my legs. “Open your legs.”
I swallow hard as the request sinks in. I want to obey. So badly. I want him to fix everything that is wrong with this day, erasing the shame of my failure at school and the haunting regrets I have from the past by fucking me in this car.

NOW AVAILABLE!
Amazon US | UK AU

BLURB:
I get that you probably hate me. I don't blame you. You'll probably hate me even more once this is all over. That's okay, too.
Honestly, I hate myself.
But before you make any judgments about me, you should know I never planned for things to go this way. I really do love him, and I never meant to hurt him.
It's just that some things are better left unsaid. Some secrets are meant to be kept.
Still, I can't help feeling like I've just made the biggest mistake of my life.
My name is Willow Lansing. I'm a gypsy, a vagabond, stealer of hearts.
And it feels like I'm unraveling at the seams.

EXCERPT:

I sat at the dinette, map unfolded in front of me, sipping at my extra cream and extra sugar mug of coffee. Hot chocolate might have been my drink of choice, but days like this one required caffeine.
We had a full day of driving ahead of us, and I needed to get us off the highway we were on. But in order to do that, I needed to have at least some sort of idea as to where we were going. I hated doing that, though—planning our destination. I felt like it made us easier to track. Suspicious, I know, but I’d apparently become a little paranoid. Rightly so, considering the razorblades ripping my heart to shreds over not leaving sooner, for letting myself fall in love, and putting everything at risk.
How could I have been so stupid? So damned careless?
Oh, that’s right . . . Josh.
Just the thought of him triggered a pang in my chest, one so painfully raw, I was sure my heart would fall right out onto the table, leaving behind a gaping hole in my chest so deep and wide that it’d never be filled again. Not by anything or anyone. Because there wasn’t a single person or thing on this earth could ever give me what he had given me, something I’d desperately needed when he’d found me on that bridge.
Hope.
As I’d stood up on that ledge that night, looking out over the water, I thought of how easy it would be to just end it all. I wouldn’t do it, not as long as Mya needed me. But there’d still been this sobering realization just before he showed up . . . if I fell, there would be no one there to catch me. No one to rescue me. Only me and the sky and the ground below.

So I’d just have to learn how to fly.
Not literally, of course, but figuratively.
Josh had been the one to give me wings with his willingness to help a complete stranger, a crazy girl standing on a bridge, ready to plummet to her death—or at the very least contemplating the idea. They grew stronger as I got to know him, learned just how kind, gentle, caring, and sensitive he really was. I bloomed under his attention, his affection, his love. And for the first time in a very long time, I felt free. He had been more than I ever could have wished for, perfect in every way.
But none of that mattered in the end—not his beautiful soul, not his deep laugh that warmed me from the inside out, not the way he loved me without question, limitations, or conditions. It couldn't, no matter how much I wanted it to. Because things with wings have to fly in order to survive.
And that’s exactly what I’d done.

REVIEW:
Willow's story broke my heart into teeny tiny pieces.  I had been waiting for this moment....albeit terrified because I knew it wouldn't be an easy one.  She captured me in Tortured but in Unraveled I loved her even more than I thought possible.  The plot jumps back and forth from her painful past to the present.  It gives us the insight we didn't have in book one.  We come to know the reasons behind her actions, her motivation to protect what needs protecting at any cost.  I wasn't even the least disappointed in Josh's physical absence in the book...Kate did Willow a perfect justice telling her story exactly the way she did.  And Cole, oh do I have a serious pocket in my heart for that guy.  I really, REALLY hope we get a book for him.  He's just as complex and intriguing as Willow.  Maybe more...  This is by far my favorite book of Kate's.  I was transfixed the entire time, caught in the emotions and heart searing pain of their past as well as the constant fear lurking in the shadows of the present.  I was truly Unraveled by the time I finished the last sentence.  Anxiously waiting for the next installment!

Tortured (Tortured Soul #1) by Kate Givans
They say time heals all wounds. I beg to differ.
It’s been more than a year since the crash that killed my best friend. Everyone else has moved on with their lives – his girlfriend, his parents, our friends - everyone except me. But they weren’t there.
They don’t have to relive that horrible night, over and over, like some sick, twisted movie. I didn’t ask for it, and I couldn’t make it stop.
Then I met Willow.
With her unwavering compassion and carefree spirit, she put some slack in the chains holding me to my past. Her bubbly optimism has taught me what it means to walk away from tragedy and loss a better, stronger man.

There’s just one problem.
Underneath all that beauty, she’s secretive. Evasive. I’m pretty sure she’s running from something, but I don’t know what. The closer I get to finding out, the more it seems as if she’s just another link in my chains of torture.

TORTURED IS $0.99 FOR A LIMITED TIME!

Just some general info about this book and how it relates to the rest of my books:
This is a story about Sasha Cherlin who appears in Slack, Come, Come Back, Coming For You, 321 (unnamed at the very end), and Meet Me In The Dark. It CAN be read as a standalone, but readers should be aware that this book is meant to be “The End” for Sasha and her life in the Company. Wasted Lust occurs ten years after Coming For You, two years after Meet Me In The Dark and AT THE SAME TIME as 321, so it is a parallel book, and although there are no real spoilers for 321 (I was very careful to avoid them) the plots converge in the middle of Wasted Lust. I would consider this to be a traditional romantic suspense and it is not dark.
